Of course Hamas condemns the killing of Bin Laden: birds of a feather.

According to Reuters:

Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas administration in the Gaza Strip, called bin Laden a martyr.

“We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior,” Haniyeh told reporters. “We regard this as a continuation of the American policy based on oppression and the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood.”

I shake my head.

  1. The irony is that the idea of Palestinian nationalism went against the ultimate goals of Osama bin Laden. He wanted to take up the banner of the great warrior Sallah-al-Din and refound the Caliphate. Of course Sallah-al-Din wished to spread the Caliphate across the world (or the world they knew at the time) after forcing the Crusaders out.

Osama of course took this idea (as did Saddam Hussein, who called himself both the second Nebuchadrezzar and the second Sallah-al-Din, though the irony of his treatment of Kurds (which Sallah-al-Din was) and words of praise are not lost on the people who learn about it) and cast Israel as the great Crusader state and himself as Sallah-al-Din (as did Saddam, who had set up a “Jerusaelm Army” before our invasion). The question you have to ask yourself about Osama though, is whether he actually believed in the idea of a worldwide Caliphate and was on this sort of jihad on religious grounds, or if he was simply a power hungry demagogue like our good friends at Hamas (who seem to think making rockets is the only way they can export their scrap metal, and who, whenever they “export” a rocket, love to place children in the spot they just fired from), and he just hijacked the whole idea for his own personal gain. Guess we’ll never know, but the fact that he didn’t attempt to destroy Israel at any point (or even attack Yerushalayim), or what have you, suggests the Caliphate was just a carrot for recruits.

So, now that both of these “heirs to the Caliphs” have been sent to hell, the question we have to ask ourself is who will be the next heir to the Caliphs? Where will he be? What form will his jihad take? Will he actually be serious about it or just another one of these lazy terrorists who, while incredibly dangerous and murderous, have not shown themselves to really be ineterested in anything other than power?
